Windage trays in our own vintage road race engines keep “windage” around the crankshaft away from the oil in the sump while allowing oil coming off the crank to easily enter the sump. The one-way design keeps oil from the sump from getting into the rotating assembly during hard cornering, braking and accelerating. The benefits of using a windage tray are both horsepower savings and improved oil control.
